    • Motor

    • Eye movement upward, medial, downward, up and in

  • IV: Trochlear

    • Motor

    • Eye movement down and in

  • V: Trigeminal

    • Both

    • sensory information from upper part of face (forehead and scalp), middle part of face (cheeks, upper lip, and nasal cavity), and ears, lower lip, and chin

    • Motor function of jaw (clench teeth)

  • VI: Abducens

    • Motor

    • Look side to side

  • VII: Facial

    • Both

    • Taste for anterior 2/3 of tongue

    • Facial expressions

  • VIII: Acoustic (Vestibulocochlear)

    • Sensory

    • Hearing and equilibrium/balance

  • IX: Glossopharyngeal

    • Sensory information from sinuses, parts of inner ear, and back 1/3 of tongue

    • Motor function for some muscles of speech (in back of throat)

  • X: Vagus
